Protecting and expanding
south carolina's passion

One-third of South Carolina is water, and time on the water is the state’s top recreational activity.

We can’t take it for granted.

The SCBFA is dedicated to protecting public access to clean water and improving the business climate for manufacturers who make the products we use on the water.

We’re all in this together.

More than half the decisions made at the State House affect business either directly or indirectly. Our members are busy running their companies. They don’t have the time or resources to monitor every bill in the Legislature or every regulation in a state agency.

SCBFA does. It’s our job to know and to act for our member companies.

Our governing board is composed of family-owned businesses as well as international corporations, so every SCBFA member has input into our priorities.

Founding members include companies such as boat manufacturers, sportfishing manufacturers, boat dealers, suppliers, marinas and tackle retailers.

Solving unique challenges

Meeting the growing demand of specialized workforce needs for this industry in South Carolina is one of SCBFA’s paramount initiatives.

Using decades of institutional knowledge of South Carolina, paired with our Workforce Development Team, led by Dr. Lisa Waller of Falcon Bass Boats, we identify what role each state agency — from employment to education — plays in finding a qualified workforce for your company.

The SCBFA seeks to solve this industry challenge through an industry-led, multi-phase, comprehensive plan and advancing state recognition of the specialized skills boat builders, dealers and others in the industry desperately need.

BENEFITS OF JOINING THE SCBFA

Trying to navigate today’s flood of regulatory proposals, legislation, and other information could take you or your staff hours to research, monitor, in deciding whether to act. As the state’s boating and fishing trade association, we screen, monitor and advise the industry’s next steps forward.

With the most unique economic mix of boating and fishing related businesses in the world, South Carolina consumers need to know the quality of products our state’s industry yields.

Through statewide industry promotion, boating and fishing educational campaigns, sponsoring or organizing community events, and media outreach, SCBFA will advance the industry’s marketing footprint throughout the Palmetto State.

The SCBFA offers educational seminars and speakers on relevant topics, from digital marketing to HR summits, specifically geared towards helping your business.

The SCBFA members are exclusively informed through our bi-monthly newsletter, virtual meetings, and call-to-actions emails regarding various legislation.

Our job, as the industry’s trade association, is to foster relationships and bring assets together to positively impact your manufacturing facilities, dealerships, marinas, retailers, suppliers, employees and customers.

The SCBFA provides these opportunities to work together, learn from each other and grow boating and fishing commerce in South Carolina.
